Salary: MPS/UPS plus SEN Allowance

Hours: Full time

Start Date: December 2025

 

Due to the upcoming retirement of our SENDCo, Riverside Community Primary has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and forward-thinking practitioner who has achieved the National Award for SENDCo. The role will be varied and will include overseeing the creation and implementation of individual learning, behaviour and health plans, reviewing and assessing pupil progress and targets; preparing Annual Review documentation and writing new EHCP requests as required; liaising with external agencies and providing pastoral support to pupils and their families. As a non-class based SENDCo, you will co-ordinate an experienced and large SEND team who will directly work with pupils, and lead staff training on SEND and up to date teaching strategies that promote inclusion.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Puts children first
  • Is an experienced primary (3-11) SENDCo (achieved NASENDCO or has at least started the NPQSEND)
  • Has a thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding – ideally with experience of being DDSL
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for supporting pupils with SEND so that via training, you can advise and support teachers to adapt their teaching to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Is proactive and well organised
  • Has experience liaising with multi-agencies
