Roman Day

We had fun dressing up as Ancient Romans to celebrate our topic on Pompeii. We started the day investigating Roman artifacts and guessing what they were. We recognised the sandals and pots and learnt how to play the game knuckles (like Jacks). As a class we build our own volcano and loved watching them erupt. In the afternoon we prepared for battle  by making our own shields and swords before conquering the rest of the school!!! What a fantastic way to end the end.

Wembury Trip

Today the Year 1 children had a wonderful morning exploring Wembury Beach. We had lots of fun creating pebble art, rambling over the rockpools and taking the time to stop and soak up the surroundings. All staff feel extremely proud of the children's behaviour and we cant wait to go on our next adventure together.

Computing Mondrian 

In computing this term we have been creating our own digital artwork using  Paintz. We investigated using the different tools from the task bar to see what we could create. We changed the size and colour of the drawing tool and learnt how to save our work. We then used the skills we have learnt to create a picture inspired by the artist Mondrian. We used the line and fill tool and remembered to only use the primary colours with black and white.

Science Light Sources 

As scientists this term we are looking at celebrations through music, food, light and dark. We will be asking scientific questions and using ours senses to find the answers. We started with thinking about light sources and investigated candles. We watched what happened when they were lit and carried our own investigation to see what happened when we took oxygen away. 
A fantastic start to this half term.
